African-American Scholarship
Established in 1991, this scholarship was created to recruit deserving African-American students to complete their studies at The University of Texas at Arlington.
REQUIREMENTS: Sophomore classification or higher • demonstrated financial need • African-American origin • full-time student in good standing.
Architecture Alumni Topping Out Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2006 by the Architecture Alumni Chapter.
REQUIREMENTS: Interior Design, Landscape Architecture or Architecture major • full-time student with 15 credit hours completed at UT Arlington • 3.25 GPA • demonstrate leadership ability and potential for success • applicants who maintain the required GPA may reapply for up to 3 years.
Cothburn O’Neal Scholarship
Established in 1999, this scholarship honors the 1925 graduate, Distinguished Ut Arlington professor and World War II naval aviator. He was later inducted to the Maverick Hall of Honor.
REQUIREMENTS: Military Science Cadet with the highest GPA in his/her military science class • U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident • submit a letter stating career goals • demonstrated financial need.
Daniel Kauth Scholarship
This scholarship was gifted in 1995 by the 1984 alumnus for marketing majors giving preference to out-of-state residents.
REQUIREMENTS: Marketing major • full-time student and demonstrated financial need • submit a letter stating career goals and future commitment to UT Arlington.
Frankie Stewart Hansell Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was gifted in 1987 by the Class of 1934 alumnae. Frankie Stewart Hansell sought to provide an opportunity for students who have the potential to succeed but lack the financial resources to complete their degrees.
REQUIREMENTS: U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident • graduate or undergraduate student • preference to females, but not limited to females • demonstrated financial need.
Hispanic Scholarship
Established in 1990, this scholarship is intended to provide financial support to Hispanic students and encourage them to complete their field of study at The University of Texas at Arlington.
REQUIREMENTS: For continuing UT Arlington students who have completed 15 hours at UT Arlington • Hispanic origin • full-time enrollment in good standing • 2.5 GPA • demonstrated leadership ability.
Igor Fraiberg Scholarship in Engineering
Established by the estate of Igor Fraiberg in 2000, this award provides support for students who demonstrate potential for success in the field of engineering. Fraiberg specialized in mechanical and metallurgical engineering and is regarded for his contributions to the oil industry.
REQUIREMENTS: Engineering sophomore, junior or senior • preference given to mechanical or metallurgical engineering • 3.0 GPA • demonstrated financial need.
Karin McCallum Scholarship
Established in 1995, this scholarship provides assistance to students pursuing a field of study in Speech Communication.
REQUIREMENTS: Speech-Communication major • full-time student • junior or senior • submit transcript, professional resume, and letter of recommendation from a Communication professor
Lloyd Clark Scholarship
This fund was established in 1992 to recognize the journalism accomplishments of the former Shorthorn editor.
REQUIREMENTS: Junior or senior • completed 15 hours at UT Arlington • full-time student with commitment to journalism career • noticeable academic achievement • evidence of success in journalism • may consider financial need • writing sample
Norma Jane Pitman Roberts Scholarship
Established in 1999, this scholarship was established by family members of the class of 1940 alumnae. This fund provides financial assistance to students in pursuit of a successful business career.
REQUIREMENTS: Preference given, but no limited to, first generation college students • business major • demonstrated financial need • 2.5 GPA.
Pitman-Roberts Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1996, by the graduates of 1940 for a Military Science student exhibiting outstanding leadership qualities.
REQUIREMENTS: Completed 15 hours at UTA and currently enrolled • cannot have completed more than 4 semesters • currently enrolled in Military Science I or II.
Sue & Art Mosby Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1989 to encourage talented musicians to complete their fields of study at UT Arlington.
REQUIREMENTS: Enrolled in music • full-time student at UT Arlington in good standing • demonstrated financial need • demonstrated musical ability with potential to complete degree • audition required
Weiss Family Scholarship
The scholarship was established in 2006 by the 1973 industrial engineering graduate to honor his father and grandfather for giving him the motivation to persevere through the engineering curriculum. The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to engineering students who demonstrate the potential for success in their field of study.
REQUIREMENTS: Engineering junior or senior • full-time student • 3.0 GPA • preference is given to employed students who apply the principles of Six Sigma into their work • recipients may reapply for up to 2 years • submit short essay describing your work, career and future Alumni Association goals.
Leadership Scholarships

Alumni Association Scholars
Established in 1999, this scholarship was created to provide continuing students with financial assistance while recognizing their academic achievements in pursuit of aggressive career goals.
REQUIREMENTS: For continuing UT Arlington students • junior or senior standing • demonstrated academic achievement • evidence of a high degree of motivation toward a career goal • 3.0 GPA • minimum 24 hours passed and completed at UT Arlington • enrolled full-time • submit a 200-word essay outlining your vision/intentions for involvement with UT Arlington through the Alumni Association upon graduation.
Alumni Legacy Scholarship
Established in 2010, this award celebrates family traditions of attending The University of Texas at Arlington.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be directly related to a graduate of UT Arlington (child, stepchild, sibling or grandchild) • 3.0 GPA• incoming freshman or continuing student with at least 12 undergraduate credit hours at UT Arlington • demonstrate sustained activity, leadership, academics, extracurricular, and community service • submit nomination letter by the familial alumnus and 200-word essay describing how the legacy experience influenced your decision to attend UT Arlington.
John Berry Rogers Scholarship
This award was established in 1997 by the founding president of the Student Alumni Association, then Student Foundation. This fund is designed to provide financial support to students whose leadership supports the Alumni Association’s goals of making a difference for The University of Texas at Arlington.
REQUIREMENTS: Active Maverick Marauder (Student Alumni Association Board of Director) for a minimum of 2 semesters • held a leadership role in at least two major Maverick Marauder functions • demonstrated financial need • 2.75 GPA • this scholarship can be renewed for up to three years.
Simmons-Blackwell Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1996 by members of the classes of 1972 and 1977. It is intended to provide student scholarship support at the University of Texas at Arlington for first generation college students.
REQUIREMENTS: First generation college student • less than 90 hours • demonstrated financial need • 2.5 GPA • submit letter outlining career goals • award can be renewed for up to three years.
Student Alumni Association Sophomore Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1991 for currently enrolled sophomore students. The annual Oozeball mud volleyball tournament generates funds for this scholarship.
REQUIREMENTS: Sophomore classification with 15 hours completed at UT Arlington • 2.75 GPA required • demonstrated financial need • submit a 100-word essay stating most significant experience and/or accomplishment in his/her life.
Van Siclen Family Scholarship
Established in 2002, this scholarship was established by the family of the 1985 graduate and a former president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. The purpose of this fund is to help offset the cost of education for upperclassmen students.
REQUIREMENTS: Currently enrolled junior or senior students • 2.5 GPA • U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident eligible for in-state tuition • preference given to candidates who demonstrate campus leadership or student activity involvement on application • junior awardees who maintain a 2.5 GPA are eligible to reapply as seniors.
The number of scholarships awarded per scholarship and the amount of awards varies from year to year.
